Dive Operations Manager

Job Description

The Dive Operations Manager is responsible of a smooth and efficient operations of the Dive Operations section. Leads the team in maintaining the professional appearance of aquarium, pools, exhibit displays and facilities; thus directly impacting the health and safety of the animals, guests, contractors and colleagues, and Theme Park’s operations.

This position is responsible in analyzing and identifying areas, facilities and/or equipment for improvements. Plans, recommends and implements required action to instill budget and cost savings of the departments.

Job Scope:

  • Manages the Dive Operations schedules and task assignments.
  • Manages and monitors the team’s daily activities and ensures that they are in compliance to the SOPs, Dive Manuals and Health, Safety and Environment Policy.
  • Plans, creates and conducts trainings for the team (to include annual dive checkouts; oxygen first aid, in water back boarding, rescue drills, diving physics and physiology, lines and knots, DOT, fill, station operator, VIPs – Visual Inspection Program, Aga ban mask use, open water checkouts).
  • Monitors the performance and competencies of the team and ensures that they have the required and up to date trainings, as well as valid certifications.
  • Identifies and evaluates areas for improvements through spot audits and coordinates to the team the necessary development plan.
  • Establishes and implements the Dive Operations SOPs, Checklists, Forms and other required documents.
  • Ensures that the team complies on all OSHMS (Occupational Safety and Health Management System) dive regulations and professional development are maintained.
  • Reviews the daily logs, checklists and other documents, analyzes the reports and establishes resolutions.
  • Collaborates with the animal care and ALSS (maintenance) teams to ensure the integrated delivery of LSS operation/maintenance for the safety and welfare of the animal collection.
  • Ensures maintenance and service repairs of all dive equipment such as dry suits, regulators and the VIP of dive tanks.
  • Plans and determines the necessary supplies and equipment needed for the Dive Operations and raises the purchase requisitions in accordance to the Procurement policy.
  • Manages the testing, repair, and adjustment of all diving equipment and ensures operation of compressed breathing air compressors.
  • Performs all hard hat and confine space diving.
  • Performs other assignment as directed by the leadership team.

To be considered for this role, you will need:

Essential

  • Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent combination of education and related experience
  • SCUBA or Open Water Instructor Certification
  • Instructor Certification for CPR, AED, First Aid and DAN Oxygen Administration
  • Dive Master Certification
  • 5 years related experience; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • 4 years of experience working as a diver in an aquatic life support facility or off shore setting.
  • 3 years of experience in a leadership role
  • 2 years of experience as a certified diving instructor
  • Excellent English communication skills, verbal/written
  • Mathematical skills
  • Advance Knowledge of pneumatic, hydraulic, hand and power tools
  • Advance Knowledge of small motor engines and pumps.
  • Proficient in current computer applications, including MS Office (Word, Excel and Power Point)

Desirable

  • Dive Technician Certification
  • Experience in an AZA accredited institution
