Job Description

The Head of Instructional Technology is a pivotal role within Aldar Education and is responsible for driving the strategic integration of technology into teaching and learning processes. This position will lead the development and implementation of innovative educational technologies that enhance student engagement, academic achievement, and operational efficiency across all schools. The successful candidate will collaborate closely with academic leaders, educators, and all teams in our digital and technology services function to ensure that digital and technology solutions align with curriculum goals and support the broader educational mission of Aldar Education.

Key aspects of this role include fostering a culture of innovation, ensuring that educators are equipped with the skills and resources needed to integrate technology into their teaching practices effectively, and overseeing the management of critical educational systems such as learning management systems (LMS) and school information systems (SIS). The Head of Instructional Technology will also play a crucial role in advising on technology-related policies and procedures, ensuring compliance with data security and privacy standards, and identifying emerging trends in educational technology to inform future strategic initiatives.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement a strategic vision for instructional technology to enhance teaching, learning, and administrative processes.
  • Oversee the selection, deployment, and management of school systems such as LMS, SIS, and other learning platforms.
  • Lead the evaluation and adoption of emerging educational technologies to support pedagogical innovation.
  • Collaborate with academic leadership to align technology initiatives with curriculum goals.
  • Ensure compliance with data security and privacy standards across all educational systems.
  • Foster a culture of innovation and continuous improvement in the use of technology for teaching and learning.
  • Develop and manage budgets related to instructional technology initiatives.
  • Provide strategic guidance on technology integration to support student engagement and academic achievement.
  • Coordinate with all digital and technology teams to ensure seamless instructional technology integration within our digital ecosystem.
  • Provide leadership in integrating technology into classrooms, supporting educators in adopting innovative tools and practices.
  • Design and deliver professional development programs to enhance staff proficiency in instructional technology.
  • Manage vendor relationships to procure, implement, and maintain technology solutions.
  • Regularly assess technology systems to ensure their effectiveness and alignment with institutional needs.
  • Monitor trends in educational technology to make informed recommendations for future initiatives.
  • Develop policies and procedures for effectively using instructional technologies across Aldar Education schools.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in education, Instructional Technology, or a related field (Master’s degree preferred).
  • At least 5 years of experience in a leadership role focusing on instructional technology or educational technology integration.
  • Expertise in managing LMS, SIS, and other educational platforms (e.g., Blackboard, Moodle, Canvas).
  • Strong understanding of pedagogical principles and instructional best practices.
  • Proficiency in multimedia production for educational purposes (graphics, audio/video).
  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to collaborate effectively with diverse stakeholders (teachers, administrators, and technical teams).
  • Strong project management skills with a proven ability to lead cross-functional initiatives.
  • Up-to-date knowledge of data security regulations and best practices in education technology.
