Head of Global Selling, MENA Marketplace

DESCRIPTION
Amazon’s Middle East & North Africa (MENA) Seller Services is looking for an exceptionally motivated and talented Head of Global Selling to grow its international business arcs. Global Selling Business is a key growth engine for the overall Seller Business in MENA, and this team’s goal is to maximize the potential of out-of-region sellers for MENA customers, in terms of recruitment & account management and Seller, Delivery and Customer experience. The MENA Head of Global Selling leads a team locally and has dotted-line responsibility over dozens more scattered around our global centers to drive growth of our international Selling Partners.

To be successful in this role you will be required to deliver the insights and actions to improve our Selection, Pricing and Customer Experience for Selling Partners from outside the MENA region. This team influences global product roadmaps, defines resource allocation/priorities, builds training material, and drives projects to unblock MENA potential. You will need to have or build strong bonds with our away teams (notably in China but also in USA, Europe and India), have thought leadership and the ability to influence beyond scope. As a leader you will need to coordinate smoothly with the UAE/KSA/Egypt Marketplace country leads as well as the Dubai-based MENA Marketplace regional teams to accelerate growth and choice for Amazon customers.

Reporting into MENA Seller Services leadership, as MENA Head of Global Selling , you will :

– define our Selling Partner recruiting strategy, and make recommendations on resource allocation to optimize for long-term growth
– drive functional teams to adopt and share best practices, to continuously improve productivity and to react to opportunities
– identify adhoc and recurrent merchandising activities to increase awareness of emerging brands and solve for coldstart issues, aswell as audit the need for category-specific projects such as enabling fast fashion
– be a key stakeholder in store-wide initiatives and engage with local leaders in MENA Seller Services as well as Selling Partner Support, Customer Service and company-wide teams in Technology and Product Management to drive projects and improvements to buyer and Selling Partner facing-input metrics
– make high-judgment recommendations on difficult topics such as offensive products, Selling Partner vs Customer Experience, and consumer product law.

This role requires you to work up and down the organization and influence teams across all Amazon locales.

Key job responsibilities
– Build Amazon MENA as an attractive, high-ROI region for global Selling Partners to sell anything from clothing to home accessories, electronics products, books, beauty products, and anything in between.
– Coordinate with Global Selling teams across existing and new WW locations to annually recruit tens of thousands of Selling Partners who will provide selection leadership.
– Build and develop a local high-performing team and create a culture of ownership and innovation.
– Develop deep relationships with some of our key selling partners to surface relevant anecdotes and suggest optimal tradeoffs that do not compromise Customer experience and take into account any operational constraints.
– Work cross-functionally with central company-wide teams in Technology and Product Management to establish the right Selling Partner and Customer Experience.
– Develop innovative programs; work in a white space as we identify new expansion opportunities (e.g. intra-MENA arcs, MENA exports) and selection opportunities (e.g. emerging brand owners, manufacturers).
– Own the reporting (recurrent/adhoc) of the performance of the different global arcs, and align stakeholders on planning, priorities and team goals.
– Interact with key senior executives in MENA, US and other regions as you lead one of Amazon’s fastest growing businesses.

About the team
The Amazon Marketplace organization drives the Selling on Amazon business and develops solutions that enable millions of Selling Partners around the world to sell on Amazon, representing >50% of WW sold units.

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS
– Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Finance, Economics, Computer Science, or related field.
– Experience leading diverse organizations and functions, through both solid and dotted lines.
– Successful experience in hiring and people development.
– Bizdev responsibility and proven track record of success defining and delivering innovative big ideas to drive long term results.
– Superior analytical skills. Demonstrated ability to identify and solve ambiguous problems. In particular, identifying customer needs and inventing new ways to meet those needs.
– Demonstrated ability to operate both strategically and tactically in a high-energy, fast-paced environment.
– High degree of organization and ability to manage multiple, competing priorities simultaneously.
– Excellent communication (verbal and written) and collaboration skills that enable you to earn trust at all levels.
– High attention to detail and willingness to roll up your sleeves.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
– MBA
– Experience working within a high-growth, technology company would be highly beneficial
