Role Purpose:

The Manager – Analytics Engagement is responsible for being agile in bridging between the analytics product teams and the country/cross-functional teams by integrating analytics into the business-as-usual way of working to execute our Analytics Delivery and Insights roadmap. The role holder is also responsible for designing, planning and delivering analytics use-cases in a timely manner across multiple Majid Al Futtaim Retail markets.

Majid Al Futtaim Retail is continuing to develop and build its analytics talent to support its advanced analytics agenda. The various analytics use cases launched by the Retail Analytics Unit on a start-up mode will establish the unit’s foundation to develop a powerful product portfolio following it’s sustainable growth. As such, team members are given the latitude to shape the trajectory of the unit and bring their ideas and visions into fruition.

He/she will be at the forefront of enhancing the Advanced Analytics value proposition, in line with the long-term digital and non-digital objectives of Majid Al Futtaim.

Role Details – Key Responsibilities and Accountabilities:

Analytics Business Partnering Strategy

  • Define and communicate scope, project plan, deliverables and value realization targets for use-cases in alignment with business stakeholders
  • Manager the deployment and adoption of 3-4 cross-functional analytics projects across 4-5 countries
  • Discover opportunities for new analytics projects across countries through ideation workshops
  • Articulate business needs to the product owners and development team in order to find the best analytical solutions and create proof of concepts; ensure alignment with country business requirements
  • Support team on guide deployment and implementation of new/enhanced solutions
  • Set and drive adoption of clear governance model with apt escalation tactics
  • Establish frameworks and governance throughout the implementation process
  • Assess and prioritize initiatives/features based on impact and feasibility in line with business and advanced analytics strategy
  • Work closely with business stakeholders to assess existing use-cases and identify areas of improvement to increase impact and improve adoption
  • Develop and track mitigation plans to achieve impact target for underperforming countries
  • Coach business users to drive consumption and adoption of advanced analytics tools and implement use-cases
  • Ensure last mile execution based on the use case insights, collaborating with key stakeholders across the business and driving tool adoption
  • Recommend and track corrective actions to meet target for underperforming countries
  • Develop proof of concepts for new analytics initiatives having a customer-centric approach. Build new and creative analytics products with the aim of optimizing the user experience and business operations

Coordination and Communication

  • Serve as a strategic thought partner to business teams on analytics and insights
  • Collaborate with data scientists, engineers, and business teams and other key stakeholders as their business partner, to identify the scope of improvement and drive the right processes to deliver on the business objectives
  • Work with the Data Analytics team to generate actionable insights and communicate the same with appropriate recommendations to business stakeholders
  • Liaise with business owners and proactively problem solve challenges in data collection and/or product implementation and usage
  • Provide country leadership regular visibility on impact and implementation status
  • Ensure regular information exchange with all relevant stakeholders and update them on the development progress across projects
  • Build relationships and maintain strong partnerships with key personnel to help achieve organisational goals
  • Collaborate with key stakeholders to ensure clarity of the specifications and expectations of the Retail Analytics Unit

Audit and Reporting

  • Develop presentations on advanced analytics and performance in key areas of the business and communicate results across the organisation
  • Regularly report impact and implementation progress to respective country management
  • Responsible for the preparation of business presentations and reports related to Retail Analytics for various stakeholders, on periodic and ad hoc basis as and when required
  • Perform regular audit of various processes and databases for the Retail Analytics Unit in order to identify gaps and risks, and propose corrective actions

Policies and Procedures

  • Develop and review the Retail Analytics policies and procedures and ensure it is implemented and reported on as a part of the policies and procedures for the Retail Analytics Unit
  • Develop and implement of relevant policies and procedures

Human Capital Responsibilities

  • Ensure the implementation of the performance management process
  • Provide mentorship for the purpose of developing a continuous talent pipeline for key roles
  • Identify training needs and coordinate with the HC department to ensure facilitation of training requirements
  • Oversee the development and implementation of on the job-training
  • Ensure constant availability of the required competent staff to support the organization in meeting all its responsibilities, plans, and objectives
  • Provide inputs while developing MAF Retail’s corporate policies and relevant procedures, and monitor the implementation

Personal Characteristics and Required Background:

Minimum Qualifications/education:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in a Business or quantitative subject (Analytics, Engineering, Math, Statistics, etc.)
  • Master’s Degree in a similar field is preferred

Minimum experience:

  • 7+ years in an Analytics agile role in an international environment; leveraging analytics to drive business decisions with the ability to demonstrate value and track record
  • 2+ years in the retail/FMCG business is preferred and GCC experience is an advantage


  • Strong leadership and people management capabilities with proven ability to develop strategic relationships with senior leadership stakeholders
  • Experience in several visualization tools such as Tableau, PowerBI, etc.
  • Sound knowledge in various analytics tools/languages is a must, such as R/Python/SQL/SPSS/Google Analytics
  • Basic knowledge of advanced analytics/machine learning principles is a must, such as Regression, Clustering, Classification etc.
  • Comfortable with ambiguity, developing MVP’s in a “test and learn” environment
  • Drives stakeholder alignment on complex issues, removing bottlenecks throughout use case life cycle; solid analytics acumen (must be able to bridge the business and tech)
  • Collaborative, pragmatic and proactive problem solver
  • Proven ability to see the big picture with attention to details, translate data into meaningful analysis and insights, excellent understanding of the analytics ecosystem and value chain from both a business and a technical standpoint
  • Ability to work independently and in cross-functional teams
  • Strong business communication and presentation skills with proven experience managing executive-level communications
  • Excellent organizational skills with the ability to prioritize workload
  • Strong English language skills (Speaking, Reading and Writing) with exceptional business writing, Arabic is a plus
  • Proficient in MS Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint)
