POSITION SUMMARY
As Retail Area Manager, you will be responsible for the efficient, effective, and compliant operation of Boutiques within a defined region. You will ensure Retail strategy is implemented with a focus on commercial results and delivering best in class customer experience. Another key element to this role will be to manage, coach, and develop the Boutique Managers driving ownership and accountability for People and Boutique performance.
A DAY IN THE LIFE …
- Deliver Commercial Results through effective Business Management
- Develop an advanced understanding of Boutique performance in region and conduct detailed analysis utilizing appropriate data sources (P&L, Sales data, KPIs, Customer Experience) to drive business performance.
- Develops an annual business plan through analysis of business performance to implement concrete and appropriate action plans (including promotional calendar) to deliver desired objectives.
- Effectively communicate and ensure the execution of business plans through Multi-site and Boutique Managers and Boutique teams.
- When relevant and in agreement with Manager, development of specific reports to consolidate demonstrate business analysis, action plan implementation, and goals’ achievement.
- Fosters relationships with local retailers, Centre management, industry bodies, to build the Boutique profile, maximize commercial opportunities and optimize brand opportunities.
- Effective budget management, responsibility for delivering to budget across P&L lines, working in Partnership with Finance co-pilot and other key stakeholders as required.
- Leadership and effective People Management
- Management, leadership, and development of Multi-Site and/or Boutique Managers within Region. Developing a high-performing team, through communication, empowerment and role-modelling expected competencies and behaviors.
- Using advanced coaching skills to challenge and develop direct reports, establishing an open, coaching culture in the Region, capacity to provide constructive and positive feedback. Develop a deep understanding of the personal motivational and behavioral drivers, functional competencies of each team member to enable ongoing motivation and development.
- Develop a thorough understanding employee engagement (informal/Nestle & I) and develop action plans in region, supporting plans and initiatives applicable for the wider Boutique and Nespresso organization.
- Leverage the Talent Management and Succession Planning processes, identifying key talent and roles, creating robust succession plans to close gaps in pipeline.
- Coach and develop direct reports to enable improved retention, through effective conversations, performance management and development plans.
- Support escalated Employee Relations issues where appropriate, equipping direct reports and their teams with the knowledge and skills required to manage ER effectively at Boutique level.
- Where applicable, manages salary budget in line with OP, uses available tools and historical data (Kronos, Nessoft etc.) to plan Boutique resources in line with business peaks to ensure customer service standards are maintained.
- Operations, Compliance and Customer experience
- Be the Guardian of the Retail Operations model, ensuring efficient ways of working with the Retail Operations function and other departments as appropriate. Provide insight, challenge, and influence business stakeholders to ensure appropriate channels are established for resolution of operational issues, Role model the continuous improvement mindset and behaviors required.
- Coach and develop direct reports and teams to ensure operational excellence is established in all areas of Boutique operations, compliance, and internal controls. Enable a customer-focused approach in every location, ensuring the Nespresso Sales and Service standards are in place and ensuring a consistent Nespresso Customer Experience
- Develop a deep understanding of Customer Experience throughout Region, conduct regular analysis of customer complaints and internal/external KPIs (Customer Voice, Mystery Shop) and identify opportunities for continuous improvement.
What will make you successful…
- Education level: Business School, Hospitality School (desired)
- Experience as Multi-site Boutique Manager or commensurate experience in a leadership role in another function
- Experience as a Regional Retail Manager or extensive experience in Area or Cluster Management roles
