Translator & Administration Assistant (UAE National)

Job Description:

Parsons is looking for an amazingly talented Translator & Administration Assistant (UAE National) to join our team! In this role you will get to perform translation related works as well as undertake office administration, document control and light receptionist duties.

What You’ll Be Doing:

  • Reading through original material and rewriting it in the target language [Arabic], ensuring that the meaning of the source text is retained.
  • Using specialist dictionaries, thesauruses and reference books to find the closest equivalents for terminology and words used.
  • Researching legal, technical and scientific phraseology to find the correct translation.
  • Liaising with technical staff to discuss any unclear points.
    Proofreading and editing final translated versions.
  • Providing clients with a grammatical, well-expressed final version of the translated text, usually as a word-processed document.
  • Using the internet and email as research tools throughout the translation process.
  • Meeting deadlines.
    Consulting with experts in specialist areas.
  • Retaining and developing specialist knowledge on specialist areas of translation.
  • Document Control: maintaining log of incoming and outgoing correspondence, ensuring documents are correctly filed and labelled on electronic filing system (PMWeb).
  • Office Administration: Ensuring the smooth running of a small office (6 people). Ordering office supplies using Parsons systems, organizing couriers etc.
  • Receptionist Duties: Greets visitors and notifies person(s) being visited, maintains schedule for conference rooms

What Required Skills You’ll Bring:

  • Having at least 2 years Higher Diploma or High School qualification.
  • Minimum 2 to 3 years of relevant experience.
  • Good business English and Arabic and general office practice skills are required.

What Desired Skills You’ll Bring:

  • Additionally, some familiarity with standard word processing, spreadsheet and database software, and a typing skill at 40 words per minute.
  • Experience with PMWeb is preferred.
